Committed Marriages

Today, the commitment of marriage isn’t viewed as too important among society. Commitment only works when things work for one or the other it seems. We let Hollywood define what commitment is and its relation to marriage. The Father says marriage is a sacred union between the man and the woman. It’s one of the most important vows you can make.

It’s not just a beautiful wedding with elegant dresses, good music, and delicious cakes. Marriage is about loyalty and commitment. It’s being loyal even when you don’t feel like it (if you are suffering from physical abuse you should seek help). It is an honor to enter into this union with your husband. It can be very hard at times, but we have to remember the vow we made to God and to our husband.

If you’re struggling, ask the Father to help you through this hard season. The Father knows what’s going on and He wants to help you through it. Society, though it doesn’t realize it, depends on strong, committed marriages. So never give up on each other. Even though it seems easiest to give up, keep holding on.

And remember that the grass is only greener where it’s watered.

Father, thank You for marriage, what You instituted in the garden years ago. Thank You for our husbands and the gift they are to us. You have shown us what commitment looks like with the death of our Savior on the cross. Thank You for being committed to us. Help us to stayed committed to our husbands, in the good and bad. Remind us to cry out for Your strength to be loyal and the wife You desire us to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.

Ecclesiastes 4:9
