This verse gives a very vivid image. I thirst for You like a parched land. This is how David felt towards the Father. At a time in his life, where he obviously needed to feel the Father near to him, he penned this.
So do you thirst for the Father like a parched or thirsty land? Is he that important to you? David obviously was desperate for God. There was no telling what was going on in his life at the time, but then again, didn’t he always express deep desire for the Father?
We need Him like a parched land, even if we don’t see that.
We cannot make it without Him, ever. Our spirits should have a longing for the Father’s presence in our life.
For His peace
For His love
For His righteousness
There shouldn’t a day go by that we don’t acknowledge how much we need Him. That’s weakness and there’s no shame in that statement. We aren’t meant to do life on our own. He created us with a need and He wants to fill that need.
Fill your mind with His Word and things that honor Him so that we continue to thirst for Him.
Father, thank You for reminding us that we cannot do life on our own. Thank You for being a Well for us to run too when we’re thirsty. May our spirits long for You and desire You in our life. You are the true source of joy, strength, peace, and contentment. Help us to see that and to thirst for You, and You alone. Create a desire to please You, Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
