It’s something we all desire in some form or fashion.
Ah…to have the perfect children. Children who don’t fight with their siblings, who never disobey the rules, and who are always thankful. That’s a Mama’s dream come true, among many other things. Yet, it’s not a reality at all.
Children are little humans with the same sin nature as we have. Trying to form and mold them into perfection will exhaust us. It will also cause major damage to our children.
Instead of dreaming of perfect children, we can tell them of a perfect God.
We can tell our children about the perfect God we serve. We can encourage them to ask for His help at living their lives. We can take the pressure of perfection off of them and teach them how to lean on Him instead.
So what do ya say? Let’s point to our perfect Father in heaven for our children to look up too.
Father, thank You for being a perfect example for us. Thank You for our children and the privilege of raising them. Help us to remove the pressure of perfection from our children. May we point them to Your perfection. May they put their confidence in You and not themselves. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
