Thought Provoking Thursday- Wishing Away Seasons

I was just thinking the other day to myself and wondering, where has Spring ran off too. The temps are climbing here in the deep South. Before the 80 degree weather we did have some Spring like weather, but it went from freezing to the first day of Spring in no time it seemed. Then I realized, I was too busy wishing for Winter instead of enjoying that Spring.

I think we do that a lot in the seasons of life. I am completely guilty of wishing this or that away for something, in my mind, that seems better.

We can’t for the day we marry…

We can’t wait for the day our babies become more independent…

We can wait for the career to close so we can enjoy retirement…

It can be exciting to think of our future, no doubt, but we should try to enjoy the moment. We have to be careful we’re not missing the joy of the season we’re in right then. It can be so easy to always want the next chapter of our lives to unfold.

But each season is a gift that we should cherish deeply.

Learn from the season you’re in right now. There will be joy and there will be sorrow with every season. So slow down a bit and make sure you love and let others love you. You’ll never get this season again.

Father, You are the season that never ends. We can always rest and trust in You. Help us to enjoy whatever season You have us in. It may be hard and overwhelming, it may be great and exciting, but whatever it is, help us to learn what You want us too. Help us to enjoy the moments in each season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalm 16:11
